Who We Are

Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) is a service‑driven division dedicated to supporting the financial operations of The University of Texas at Austin. We partner with students, faculty, staff, contributors, and campus units to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and excellent service across the University. Our teams work together to provide accurate financial information, safeguard University assets, and deliver reliable support for day‑to‑day financial activities.

AFM oversees a comprehensive range of financial services essential to the University’s operations. Our work includes:

Student Accounts Receivable

Managing the assessment, billing, and collection of student tuition, fees, and other University debts while providing responsive customer service.

Payroll Services

Ensuring timely and accurate compensation for University employees and supporting payroll-related inquiries.

Treasury and Risk Management

Providing bursar services, managing cash flow and investments, overseeing payment and merchant services with PCI compliance, and administering insurance and risk management programs.

Financial Accounting and Reporting

Managing accounting in DEFINE, supporting departments with accurate financial recording, and preparing financial reports that comply with GASB standards, UT System and state guidance, and University policies.

Inventory Services

Administering capital and controlled asset accounting, ensuring accurate inventory records, and supporting compliance for financial reporting, grant requirements, and audits.

Tax Services

Managing the University's tax reporting and compliance and providing guidance on information reporting, sales and use tax, unrelated business income, and other tax requirements.

Administrative Services

Supporting AFM and the broader campus community by facilitating access to services such as invoicing, cashier transactions, manual checks, and other operational needs.
