Tuition Services

The Tuition Services team of Student Accounts Receivable handles the billing and processing of regular tuition and fees for students of the University. See below for information on specific tuition-related items for which our office may offer assistance.

Students looking for guidance on paying their tuition bill should visit the Managing Costs page of the Texas One Stop site.

Tuition Waivers

A tuition waiver allows for a portion of a student's tuition bill to not be owed by the student. The student is responsible for payment of any remaining tuition not covered by the waiver.

Information on tuition waivers can be found in the University Catalog on this page.

Tuition Exemptions

A tuition exemption allows a student's tuition bill to not be owed by the student.

Information on tuition exemptions can be found in the University Catalog on this page.

Resident Tuition Waivers for Graduate Students

Graduate students may request resident tuition entitlement by reason of employment on the Tuition Bill Waivers page of UT Direct. Use this page to request waivers in relation to:

  • Student employment
  • Faculty employment
  • Spouse or parent employment

This page allows the student to see details on any requests already in the system, or submit a new request. New submissions will only be allowed if the student has not previously submitted a request for the same semester or their previous request has expired or has been revoked.

See the Resident Tuition Entitlement page on the Graduate School site for a list of qualifying job titles for entitlement to resident tuition.

Military Benefits

Students with questions about their military benefits in relation to their tuition should contact sar-military@austin.utexas.edu

Tuition Statements

An official fee receipt of a tuition bill for a given semester can be printed from the My Tuition Bill page.

Each year, IRS Form 1098-T will be issued to any student that had qualified educational expenses, such as tuition, reported in the tax year. A Tax ID Number (SSN or ITIN) must be on file with the University in order to receive Form 1098-T.

This form will be available in January, no later than the 31st. 1098-T Forms may be downloaded from the My IRS 1098-T Tax Form page.

For additional information on 1098-T Forms, please contact 1098T@austin.utexas.edu.

Further information is available on the Student Tax Form Information page.
