FAS Leadership:

Kristen Walker, assistant vice president and controller for Accounting and Financial Management, recentlyinformed me of her decision to resign from the university effective July 12 to pursue a new role in the private sector.

Kristen’s first position with UT Austin 13 years ago was as an accountant, where she enhanced processes to help provide additional control, ease of analysis and time savings through automation of reports and procedures. She was quickly promoted to financial reports officer and continued to progress in her university career with roles as senior financial analyst, finance manager and director of accounting and financial management. Her success in those diverse roles culminated in her current position, which she has held since March 2017.

Kristen is known for her innovative and automated approach to reporting and data analysis. Her dedication to quality and transparency is evident in the university’s annual financial reports and audits completed under her leadership. Kristen is also recognized for her commitment to teambuilding and supporting others in their professional development.

“It has been an honor to work alongside talented professionals dedicated to the university and its mission,”Kristen said. “I will very much miss the Longhorn comradery.”

Please join me in thanking Kristen for her dedicated service at UT and wishing her well in her next endeavor. Lori Peterson, director of accounting, will serve as the interim assistant vice president for Accounting and Financial Management. Information about the search to fill Kristen’s role will be shared when those details are available.

Please share this information with your teams and colleagues at your discretion.

Darrell Bazzell
